World-Class Jazz Stars Play Two Free Dates This November - And They are Good!
The Airmen of Note are among the most skilled jazz musicians in the nation, selected through a fiercely competitive process between top performers from the most prestigious music schools and bands.
An extraordinary musical event is coming to the Green Mountain State this fall. Vermonters will have two opportunities to hear the rich, powerful sound of a world-class touring big band, and it won’t cost a penny. The United States Air Force Airmen of Note, the premier jazz ensemble of the USAF, has announced two free concerts in Vermont this November.
Two Free Vermont Performances
The free concerts are scheduled for:
Saturday, November 8, at 7:30 PM at the Bellows Free Academy Performing Arts Center in St. Albans.
Sunday, November 9, at 2:00 PM at Plumley Armory at Norwich University in Northfield.
While the concerts are free and open to the public, tickets are often required to ensure seating and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Music lovers are encouraged to check the venues’ websites or local listings for information on how to reserve their free tickets in advance.
A Legacy Dating Back to Glenn Miller
The Airmen of Note were created in 1950 to carry on the musical tradition of Major Glenn Miller’s famed Army Air Forces Band from World War II. Today, the 18-member ensemble is one of the last full-time, touring big bands in the world. Its members are among the most skilled jazz musicians in the nation, selected through a fiercely competitive audition process that draws top performers from America’s most prestigious music schools and professional circuits.
World-Class Talent, Patriotic Mission
As musical ambassadors for the Air Force, their mission is twofold: to honor America’s service members and to connect with communities across the country through the power of music. Their concerts are known for their incredible energy, precision, and a versatile repertoire that pays homage to the big band masters like Count Basie and Duke Ellington while also exploring contemporary jazz and patriotic favorites.
A Rare Musical Opportunity
For anyone who appreciates masterful musicianship, the history of American jazz, or simply a fantastic afternoon of entertainment, these concerts are a must-see event. It is a rare opportunity to witness this level of talent, presented as a gift to the community by the men and women of the United States Air Force.
