She Stole a Car, Overdosed While Driving, Crashed Over a Bank, Nearly Hit a Resident—and It Was Her Sixth Offense
On August 27, 2025, at approximately 10:45am Barre City Officers were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle crash with a car over the bank. Upon arrival, officers learned that the operator (later identified as Jodi Palmer) had been traveling down Jacques Street and subsequently overdosed causing her to go off the road.
A Barre City Street Department crew was working at the intersection and witnessed Palmer’s vehicle roll through the intersection and down a bank, almost striking a residence on Reynolds Street below.
Palmer was subsequently administered Narcan and transported to Central Vermont Medical Center where she was later released.
Palmer initially provided officers with a false name. Further investigation revealed that the license plate on the vehicle was stolen out of South Burlington, and the vehicle itself was stolen from an auto sales business in Barre Town.
Palmer was found to have five (5) outstanding arrest warrants totaling $32,700 bail for various prior charges consisting of Eluding Police, Careless and Negligent Operation, Buying/Receiving/Possessing Stolen Property, Forgery/Bad Checks, Driving while License Suspended, False Information to Law Enforcement and Retail Theft.
Palmer faces new charges of DUI – Drug, Gross Negligent Operation, False Information to Law Enforcement, Driving while License Suspended, Possession of Stolen Property and Operating without Owner Consent.
Palmer was lodged at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Center in lieu of $32,700 cash bail and will be arraigned in Washington Superior Court on August 28, 2025 to answer her charges.
