Hinesburg Woman With Five Arrest Warrants Tries to Out-Drive, then Out-Run Police
The high, then low-speed chase included speeds up to 115 miles per hour, traveling in the opposite lane, blown tires, and a pursuit on foot.
The Berlin Police Department reported that, on June 13th, 2025, at approximately 0122 hours, officers of the Berlin PoliceDepartment attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motor vehicle operating erratically on Airport in Berlin.
The vehicle attempted to elude, fleeing at speeds of 115 MPH, and led officers on a lengthy chase through Berlin, Barre Town, and Barre City. While fleeing, the operator had a criminally suspended license, was in violation of court-issued conditions, and was in possession of a substance believed to be crack cocaine.
An officer was able to successfully deploy a spike strip, deflating the front tires.
The operator then drove miles with two deflated tires leading officers on a slow-speed pursuit, operating in the wrong lane of travel, weaving across the road, and almost striking several police cruisers. The pursuit came to an end when the operator drove into the yard of a residence causing significant damage to their property, and fled on foot. Two officers were injured in the foot pursuit, and while the operator resisted arrest.
The operator also had five active arrest warrants with numerous felony charges including Felony Cocaine Possession, Aggravated Operation Without Owner Consent, multiple counts of Unlawful Trespassing into a Motor Vehicle, DUI #2, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, multiple counts of Retail Theft, and multiple counts of driving with a criminally suspended license.
Sara Whritenour was taken into custody, transported to the Berlin Police Department for processing and was issued a citation to appear at the Washington County Court, Criminal Division on June 13th, 2025, at 1230 hours to answer to the charge(s) of Eluding a Police Officer, Gross Negligent Operation, Reckless Endangerment, Driver’s License Suspended – Criminal, Excessive Speed, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Mischief, Violation of Conditions of Release.
