Free Firewood, No Income Test — But Requests Close in November

A Jericho nonprofit will drop split firewood in your driveway for free, and it won't ask what you earn. You fill out a form on Wood4Good's website and say why you need help — that's the eligibility test.
The catch is timing: the crew stops delivering in late November and does its cutting and splitting in the warm months, so August is when to ask, not January. Deliveries run in Franklin, Grand Isle, Washington, Chittenden and Lamoille counties. If you're on the other side of this, they're short on drivers, hunting for a lot in Franklin County, and they'll come pick up a fallen tree off your property.
