Four townhomes sit off the left side of the Catamount Country Club driving range on Mountain View Road in Williston. A left-handed golfer with a bad slice sends the ball that direction. Residents can point to dents in their garage doors and siding, a solar panel that a ball destroyed, and one afternoon this season when a ball grazed a woman’s hair while she was working in her front garden.
The homeowners took it to the zoning office, and in April the town cited the golf course under its nuisance and off-property impact bylaw — the same kind of ordinance nearly every Vermont town carries and almost nobody sees used.
