Burglar Falls Asleep After Breaking and Entering Champlain Farms Store
NORTHFIELD, VT – On June 4, 2025, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Northfield Police responded to a burglary alarm at Champlain Farms. Officers discovered the front door shattered by a paving stone, later identified as taken from nearby Kenyon’s Hardware. Inside, they found suspect Coty on the floor, either passed out or asleep, surrounded by stolen cigarettes and alcoholic beverages valued at approximately $54.
After securing the scene with assistance from Berlin Police, Coty requested medical attention and was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center. He was medically cleared, released with a citation, and is scheduled to appear in Washington Superior Court - Criminal Division on July 24, 2025.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
