The single-point-of-failure thing really stands out here. Database corruption during a "routine" update taking down an entire regions connectivity for 10 hours shows how fragile centralized infra still is. I've worked on distributed systems design and the fact that they didnt have rollback protocols for core auth databases is kinda shocking. The 911 access failure is serious tho, especially in rural areas where Verizon monoply means no failover options.
