ANR’s Concise Summary required to communicate the essence of the rule in 150 words or less, runs 112 words. It uses the word “planning” three times and defines none of its key terms.
Fire! The world is coming to an end. Compass does it again.
There is a proposed public process in this rule making to address the concerns raised by all citizens and groups. In your view the State of Vermont can do no good. The article contains a lot of sniping to alarm your readership.
The piece does acknowledge the public process in the rule, including the scoping requirements, the responsiveness summary, the four hearings, and the comment period — those are all in the "How to engage" section, and I encourage every reader to participate.
What the piece documents is a gap between what ANR's public-facing communications describe and what's in the operative rule text. Readers can decide for themselves whether that gap matters.
Everyone wants a piece the the "Green Mountains" in my view. It's all about "Control" and of course, Money. If Vermonters don't start voting for the right people, Vermont will become like a "Gated Community". The only way in, will be to pay....
Standing Trees uses environmental issues to push its own agenda. They often leave out key facts to make sound scientifically based management decisions appear questionable so they can raise money from well intentioned but uninformed members of the public.
Keep in mind their primary purpose is to make money. And they do so by manufacturing crisis. We are definitely feeling the effects of climate change. We definitely need sound policy and leadership. And questioning those in charge is part of our democracy and heritage. But we also need to know what motivates the people who lead the charge.
.........."we also need to know what motivates the people who lead the charge.".......Couldn't agree more Mr.Martin. You said it yourself, "primary purpose is to make money.".... Isn't that the problem all around??? When people focus on Money only, that's where the problem's begin.... And on a side note, way to many non-profit's in Vermont. That's definitely part of the problem.....
I’m not referring to non-profits in the larger context. I’m referring specifically to the tactics of one organization. There are many non-profits in this state that do fantastic work. Money is a necessary need in our current economic system. I want to know the money I may send to an organization that claims to support goals I typically agree with is not sensationalizing issues and ignoring scientific research. That was the point I was trying to make.

David — Thanks for reading and for the pushback.
