Whipped brie is the latest trend on TikTok, especially if you feel your cheese is better when you add more butter. 

The process is simple: soften butter and brie to room temperature, then remove the rind and blend the cheese in a food processor until it’s smooth.

The result is a spreadable and salty dinner party plate.

Spread it on crackers or simply apply it directly to your arteries. 

But not everyone is a fan of whipped brie.

Some cheesemongers are upset that the trend involves throwing away the rind, which they say is a key characteristic of brie, and the only possible source of fiber.

“There are flavors and notes present in the rind that differs from the paste of the cheese,” Emma Harvey, a cheese buyer at City Market South End in Burlington, Vermont, told Allrecipes.

“So please, as a monger I beg you, don’t just throw the rind away.”
