Saturday, August 28 is Long Trail Day, where the Green Mountain Club encourages you to come out and hike some of the trail while raising or donating to the Trail's upkeep and long-term preservation.

Here are the details directly from the GMC.

Show the Long Trail Some Love!

Commit to raising $1 for every mile of the 272-mile Long Trail, and get out for a hike on August 28 to celebrate the wonderful world of hiking in Vermont.

Can't hike that day? That's ok! Raising money to support the care and protection of the Long Trail is more than enough.

When:

Saturday, August 28, 2021

Where:

The Long Trail - pick your favorite section or side trail!

Why:

The Green Mountain Club encourages hikers to get outside and hike the trail (including easier side trails) to experience firsthand the natural beauty, vistas, wildlife, and character of the Green Mountains of Vermont.

GMC maintains the condition of the trail and its facilities to make hiking in Vermont safe and enjoyable. We also staff backcountry caretakers to provide education along the way. We are inviting Vermonters and visitors alike to take a hike (solo or with a team) and support the trail by raising $1 per mile of the 272-mile Long Trail.

This year proceeds from Long Trail Day will benefit GMC's Long Trail Legacy Campaign developed as a response to the popularity of outdoor recreation and the need to secure the future of our trails.
