North Hero House is going to close and will be replaced with condos.
The rooms in all the buildings, and the restaurant, will open on May 6, the Pier Bar for Memorial Day. The Lakeside buildings and Pier Bar will close after Labor Day, the main building and restaurant on October 16.
So if you have wanted to visit, or visit again, this is the time to do it!
Compass Vermont spoke with North Hero House spokesperson Bill Stark, who confirmed that a Fall 2022 closing was the likely scenario.
"They are supposedly turning three buildings into condos beginning in September," said Starbuck.
"The Inn may be sold off separately either remaining as an inn or as a private residence."
According to an article in VTDigger in October of 2021, North Hero Inn's owner, Walt Blasberg has been trying to sell the entire property for over a year, with an alternative plan to build nine new condominiums along Lake Champlain and make the inn’s main building either a single-family house or a restaurant.
No report has been made of serious buyers for the entire property, which is why Starbuck says the Labor Day closing is likely.
"It all could change," said Starbuck. "If someone came in and wanted to buy it [the owners] would prefer to keep it the way."
