Sunfish (bluegill and pumpkinseed) are widespread and abundant throughout Vermont where they provide recreational opportunities and food for many anglers. Statewide angler surveys, conducted about every ten years since 1990, have shown an increasing trend in the popularity of catching sunfish in Vermont.
Still, compared with other popular fish species, we know relatively little about sunfish populations or about the preferences of the anglers that target them.
Your input will help us to learn more about Vermont’s sunfish populations and sunfish anglers as we work to continue providing great fishing opportunities!
