SUSPECT CARDONA

The Bennington Police Department continues to investigate the murder of Patrick Mullinnex that occurred on August 3, 2022, at approximately 9:15am. The incident occurred at 324 Pleasant Street, apartment #1.

Bennington Police officers responded to this location for a report of a male with a gunshot wound to the chest in the residence. Bennington Police officers arrived at the scene within minutes and located Mullinnex on the floor and determined he was deceased. During the investigation,

the Bennington Police Department learned the apartment is the location of a person currently on parole and supervised by the Vermont Department of Correction.

During the investigation, the Bennington Police Department learned the apartment is the location of a person currently on parole and supervised by the Vermont Department of Correction.

The scene remains under the control of the Bennington Police Department. During the course of this

investigation, investigators have conducted two search warrants.

The Vermont State Police Crime Scene Search Team assisted Bennington Police Department investigators in processing the crime scene. The incident remains under investigation by the Bennington Police Department with assistance

from the Homeland Security Unit, Vermont State Police and Bennington County State’s Attorney’s Office.

During the course of the investigation, Bennington Police Department investigators identified Raul E. Cardona as the person responsible for the death of Patrick Mullinnex. The whereabouts of Cardona are unknown at this time and he should be considered armed and dangerous. Cardona is from the Springfield, Massachusetts area and investigators believe he may have fled Vermont and returned to

Massachusetts. Attached to this release is an image of the offender, Raul E. Cardona.

The Bennington Police Department continues to work closely with the Bennington County State’s

Attorney’s Office and will request an arrest warrant for Cardona today. Anyone with information
