MARLBORO, Vt. - Police suspect that multiple fires set in Windham County recently are the work of one or more arsonists. The latest fire damaged a single-story wooden structure in Marlboro on Friday, October 15.

The Marlboro building, close to Vermont Route 9 and Town Hill Road, was unoccupied, and there were no injuries. The building sustained damages from the fire, heat, smoke, and water, but local first responders saved the overall structure.

The fire is part of a string of incidences in Windham County. Rod's Mobile in Putney suffered extreme damage in a suspicious fire on October 9, and a trailer and vehicle were destroyed in Putney on October 2.

Windham County Sheriff's Department is now patroling Putney and Westminster at night with lights on, but not flashing, to help deter criminal activity.

The Arson Tip Award program is offering up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. The number is  1-800-32-ARSON (1-800-322-7766).
