Approximately 9,000 addresses within TDS' footprint will have access to the network.
TDS has been a telecommunications provider for over 50 years, and is committed to delivering the best possible experience for their customers. With this new all-fiber network, TDS will be able to offer speeds of up to 2Gig (2,000 Mbps). This is a significant upgrade from the current TDS network, which offers internet speeds of up to 50 Mbps.
Only 43 percent of households in the United States have access to fiber, according to a Fiber Broadband Association report. This puts residents in these Vermont communities in a select group with such high-quality internet service.
"As the pandemic showed, a strong internet network is crucial to a community's infrastructure. We are pleased to expand our all-fiber internet network in the Green Mountain State and bring better connections to residents and businesses," said Drew Petersen, TDS Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs.
